romps to 47-20 win
Oatkan Knights crush Cleve Hill Game recap by Brian Hillabush - Batavia Daily News Sports |

ROCHESTER
- When Le Roy won the Far West Regionals Saturday at PAETEC Park, getting
the trophy was no big deal. Most teams pose for photos and celebrate after
getting to the state final four. Not Le Roy. Mike Humphrey
started the third quarter scoring with a 16-yard TD pass from Fenstermaker.
Humphrey caught three passes for 31 yards and two scores while Fenstermaker
went 9-of-14 passing for 159 yards and three TDs. |

Le
Roy goes to the air to advance
Fenstermaker throws for three TDs as Oatkan Knights rout Cleveland Hill Game
recap by James Johnson - D&C Sports

LeRoy delivered another pounding in the postseason, but this one looked a little different, since some of it was delivered by air. Junior quarterback
Travis Fenstermaker threw three touchdown passes LeRoy (11-0) soared over
Section VI-champion Cleveland Hill 47-20 in the Class C football state
quarterfinal at PAETEC Park. "That
took a lot out of us defensively and offensively,'' Graham said. LeRoy used the pass to score first, as Fenstermaker hit a wide open Mike Humphrey for a 12-yard touchdown pass on the team's first drive. A linebacker attempted to cover Humphrey, a 5-foot-10, 160-pound junior. The next drive for LeRoy ended with an 8-yard touchdown run by Ian Humphrey, Mike's older brother. LeRoy junior
defensive back Andrew Alexander intercepted his second pass to set up
the Oatkan Knights' third touchdown in an as many possessions. Brady Bonacquisti
scored on a 1-yard run. "Then I just throw it to Mike (Humphrey). He's like Spider-man. Throw it too high or anywhere near him and somehow, someway he'll catch it.'' |

Eagles
can't slow LeRoy
Recap by Milt Northrop - Buffalo News Sports |
| ROCHESTER
- Cleveland Hill's Eagles ran into an offensive buzzsaw here Saturday
in the Class C Far West Regional at PAETEC Park. LeRoy's unbeaten Oatkan
Knights rolled to a 41-point third quarter lead and smothered the Eagles,
47-20. When Travis Fenstermaker, LeRoy's junior quarterback, wasn't passing for touchdowns, he was gashing Cleveland Hill for big gains on runs out of shotgun formation. Fenstermaker, the offensive MVP of the game, threw for three touchdowns and ran for 92 yards on 10 carries to lead LeRoy to its 11th win of the season. Brady Bonacquisti ran for two scores and was on the receiving end of a Fenstermaker pass for another. Cleveland Hill scored on three Rhakeem Wiggins passes in the fourth quarter. The Eagles played without their leading running back, junior Peter Westbrooks, who was diagnosed with mononucleosis last week. "To their credit, our guys kept hustling until the end," said Cleveland Hill coach Glen Graham. "That's a heckuva team they [LeRoy] have over there. We looked at all their games and we knew they would be balanced. That was no surprise." The Eagles were outgained, 450-224, as Fenstermaker completed 9 of 14 for 159 yards. Ian Humphrey carried 21 times for 112 yards to lead the Knights on the ground. Wiggins completed 14 of 26 passes for 163 yards, but it took the junior quarterback a while to settle down. By then it was too late. Fred McIntosh ran 13 times for 51 yards for the Eagles while Kevin Washington caught eight passes for 63 yards and two scores. Joe Sanders had the other Cleveland Hill touchdown, a 44-yard reception. |
