Varsity Football 2010 - Holley vs. LeRoy


Rugged Holley Hawks end Knights' 2010 season with 35-21 win Holley's Cadizsh Norford (115 yds) and Chad Barhydt (78 yds rushing/63 yds passing) lead the Hawks to the Section 5 Class C semifinals against G-R foe Elba-Byron Bergen. Tommy McQuillen (100 yds rushing) and Archie Cappotelli (12 tackles) lead the Knights' offense and defense respectively in season finale.

HOLLEY - Cadizsh Norford scored on a 34-yard run in the fourth quarter to give host Holley an insurance TD as the Hawks topped Le Roy 35-21 Saturday in a Class C quarterfinal in the Section 5 football playoffs. The win sets up an all-Genesee Region League semifinal as the second-seeded Hawks will play No. 6 Elba/Byron-Bergen at 2 p.m. this Sunday at Marina Auto Stadium. Elba/B-B downed South Seneca 23-7 in another quarterfinal. Norford had a big game for the Hawks with 19 rushes for 115 yards. Chad Barhydt added 78 yards on 15 carries for Holley, which improves to 7-1. Holley opened the scoring with a 56-yard touchdown run by Evan Bradoc. Le Roy then took a 7-6 lead later in the first quarter on an 18-yard TD run by Tommy McQuillen and an Austin Steinbrenner PAT. Tyler Winter then ran in from the 1 and also had the two-point conversion to put Holley up 14-7 in the second quarter. Holley made it 21-7 later in the quarter on a 7-yard TD pass from Barhydt to Jon Penna and a C.J. Fallato kick. Andy Lowe hauled in a 31-yard TD pass from Tyler Fenstermaker and Steinbrenner added the point after in the third quarter to cut the lead to 21-14. Kacee Sauer made it 27-14 on a 6-yard scoring toss from Barhydt. McQuillen then scored his second TD of the game, this time from 27 yards, to cut the lead to 27-21. Norford then scored the final TD and Penna caught a pass from Barhydt for the two-point conversion. Barhydt was 6-of-8 passing for 63 yards and the two scores. Penna caught three of the passes for 31 yards. Chris Kenyon had a key sack in the fourth quarter that made it third and long, followed by a sack by Josh DeYager. Kacee Sauer led the Holley defense with9 tackles. McQuillen finished with 100 yards and the two scores on 12 carries for No. 7 Le Roy (3-5).
