Congratulations to Coaches Farnholz, King, Rogers, and Loftus for guiding the LeRoy Jr. Knights through a perfect 9-0 season after downing the Livonia Bulldogs 36-8 at Hartwood Park on Tuesday, October 30th. The Division 1 visitors, 6-1-1 coming into the contest, were no match for the powerful LeRoy squad that rang up a 36-0 lead before relinquishing a late game TD. The LeRoy offense, powered by stellar line play, and a suffocating Knights defense were simply too much for the Bulldogs as they attempted to spill the ink on the LeRoy masterpiece of a season. The LeRoy offense gained 354 yards on 59 carries in the contest while limiting the Bulldogs to 96 total yards. Leading the rushing attack were Tim Judge (107 yds), Steve Angora (89), and Andrew Fox (81). Leading tacklers were Tim Dieffenbacher (7), Judge and Pete Paliani (6), and Zac Condidorio (5). Judge and Fox each scored 2 TDs. Rest assured that the future of LeRoy football is very bright as many of these stellar players move on to the varsity next season. Congratulations to the team, coaches, parents, fans, and all the helpers behind the scenes on a simply great season full of lifetime memories!! |

JVs
take out Division 1 Cougars 33-14
LeRoy - The JV Knights tuned up for the season finale with Livonia and a chance for an undefeated season with a relatively easy win over the HF-L Cougars. The JV Knights rolled up 308 total yards on 39 carries to take the win at Hartwood Park by a 33-14 tally. The rushing attack was led by versatile HB Tim Judge who collected 148 yards on 17 carries. Two of his carries were for TDs. HB Andrew Fox and FB Steve Angora each carried the ball 5 times, each averaging 12 yards a carry, and each scoring a TD. HB Jake Whiting picked up 20 yards on just 3 touches and figured in on a half dozen tackles. He also had an interception. The first team defense was not scored upon as Tim Dieffenbacher and Dan Panek lead the way with 12 and 10 tackles respectively. Pete Paliani garnered 6 tackles from his down lineman position while the speedy duo of Zac Condidorio and Mike Farabella each had 5 tackles. Ian Whitcroft registered the defensive play of the contest as he smashed through the Cougar line to not only block a punt, but also recover it in the end zone for a TD! The Livonia Bulldogs (6-1-1 in Division 1 play) come to town on Tuesday, October 30th to try and spoil the JV Knights' bid for an unbeaten year. Game time is 5:30 pm at Hartwood Park. |

romp 71-0 over Geneseo Blue Devils
LeRoy - Everyone and their brother seemed to score in the team's lopsided 71-0 win over the Geneseo Jr. Blue Devils. Coach Farnholz was able to give everyone playing time and the starters and reserves rose to the occasion to post some incredible numbers. Josh Makovitch even rambled out of the backfield ala Refrigerator Perry to score on a PAT run! The team finishes the season with two tough contests against Class B schools, HF-L and Livonia. Seven down, two to go in the quest for an unbeaten year. The team will be tough to beat and even has RB Jake Whiting back after recovering from an early season injury.

JVs
win tough game over Indians
Gainesville
- The LeRoy JV Knights kept their dream of an undefeated season alive
with a tough 14-8 win over an inspired Letchworth Indians JV squad.
The Knights were a bit sluggish in the first half, managing only a 5-yard
TD run by tough Tim Judge. The PAT was unsuccessful. The Indians played
rugged ball in the second quarter and put a TD of their own on the scoreboard
to knot the game at 6. The 2-point conversion was successful via pass
and Letchworth lead LeRoy's Judge again found paydirt in the third quarter after a spectacular 63-yard run to put the Knights in the lead 14-8 after the PAT. The LeRoy defense came up huge in the final quarter, stopping the Indians on several occasions, similar to their fourth quarter effort in their 14-8 win over Avon. Letchworth's final play came from the LeRoy 10-yard line. Leading the defensive charges were Andrew Fox (15 tackles), Ian Whitcroft (10), Judge (9), and Dan Panek (8). Also stepping up on defense were Rob Martino, who played well at middle linebacker, powerful Pete Paliani who registered 4 tackles for losses, including a sack, and Zac Condidorio, 7 tackles, including a shoe-string game-saver. Ryan Duthe snagged a Letchworth pass for an interception. Judge lead the LeRoy rushers with 173 yards on 28 carries, followed by Andrew Fox's 48 yards on 10 carries. The JVs are now 6-0 on the season with 3 games remaining. |

Knights smother Warsaw Tigers
LeRoy - The LeRoy JV Knights had little trouble with the visiting Tigers of Warsaw as they won their fifth game in as many starts by a 46-12 final. The offense was sparked by the running duo of Tim Judge (112 yds) and Andrew Fox (86 yds), the punishing blocking of FB Steve Angora, and the keen leadership of QB Brandon Klinkbeil. Reserve speedster Mike Farabella also got into the act, making the most of his ample playing time by rushing for 83 yds on just 10 carries. The defense was all over the field in stopping the Warsaw offensive attack. Strong games were turned in by Ryan Duthe, Rob Wortman, Ian Whitcroft, Nick Holly, and leading tackler Rob Martino. Zeb Hough displayed his power and might with some good defensive pressure as well. The game provided an opportunity for coaches Farnholz and King to see a lot of their talent in action and they were most pleased with the results. Letchworth provides the next opponent on Thursday evening over in Gainesville. |

Tim Judge has monster game in come-from-behind JV win |
Avon - The LeRoy JV Knights met a very tough Avon Braves squad on Thursday (9-17) in Avon. The Braves have a surging football program and displayed some heavy hitting and offensive punch against the LeRoyans. The host Braves shut down the LeRoy offense in the first half of play and tallied a TD of their own to lead 8-0 at intermission. LeRoy needed to make some offensive changes for the second half of play and indeed they did. Starting QB was moved to tailback to run along side Andrew Fox, the powerback. "The Bus" Steve Angora moved to the fullback position, lining up behind new QB Brandon Klinkbeil. Judge put on a tailback clinic in the second half running behind the fine blocking of Angora and Fox. Klinkbeil scored on a one yard QB keeper on LeRoy's first possession of the half. The run for 2 points failed and the Knights trailed 8-6. The tide though was turning in favor of LeRoy. Some great defensive play stopped the tricky Avon offense as Tim Dieffenbacher, Ryan Duthe, Dan Panek, and Jason Spencer flexed their defensive muscle. Judge was also outstanding on defense, registering two interceptions. Tim added a 5 yard run and the subsequent PAT in the final quarter to put the Knights up 14-8. Avon had several scoring opportunities in the final minutes of play but the LeRoy defense rose to the occasion to thwart the Braves. One Avon run that looked like it could produce a TD was stopped from behind by a fine Spencer tackle who never gave up on the play. The 14-8 tally stood up and the Jr. Knights earned their fourth win of the season in as many starts. The possible return of star RB Jake Whiting at season's end will make this squad even tougher to defeat. |

LeRoy
runs wild on Clyde-Savannah
LeRoy - The Jr. Varsity experienced no letdown after their big win over arch-rival Cal-Mum, demolishing the Clyde-Savannah Eagles by a final of 45-6. The Knights played the contest without star HB Jake Whiting who broke a finger in his left hand in the win over the Raiders the week prior (Jake played the entire Cal-Mum game with the injury, how's that for tough!). Also out of the lineup was rugged FB Steve Angora, who looks to return shortly after physical therapy of a knee injury. RB Andrew Fox was unstoppable during the game for Coach Farnholz's unbeaten squad (3-0) as he rushed for 160 yards on 14 carries. Five of those carries went for touchdowns! Slade Fitch filled in nicely with 39 yards on 7 carries, while pulling in a beautiful pass from QB Tim Judge for 26 yards. FB Mike Pacer collected the tough yards inside, scoring a TD and rushing for 38 yards. First year phenom Mike Farabella showed his wheels as well with 43 yards on 8 carries. Many reserve personnel found playing time and made the most of it, particularly Zac Condidorio, Mark Mullen, and Jimmy Macaluso. Leading the tough defense were Farabella and Tim Dieffen-bacher with 6 tackles each. Dan Panek, Jason Spencer, and Ryan Duthe also made it a tough day for the Eagles' offensive squad. |

The LeRoy JV football squad pulled off a 13-12 win over the arch-rival Raiders of Cal-Mum at Hartwood Park Thursday evening in most dramatic fashion. |
LeRoy thwarted a 2 pt. conversion after TD by Cal-Mum with less than 2 minutes to play to maintain the 1 point margin of victory. LeRoy HB Jake Whiting had given the LeRoyans a 6-0 lead in the first quarter after a finely blocked run to the outside. The extra point kick just fluttered over the cross bar to give the Knights a 7-0 lead. The kick would prove to be the difference in the contest. LeRoy had the ball deep in Raider territory late in the first half and looked to be driving for a sure TD when the Cal-Mum defense stiffened and took over on downs. The Raiders then methodically marched 90+ yards for a TD with just over a minute to play in the half. LeRoy's Andrew Fox came up with a huge tackle on the 2 pt. conversion attempt to preserve the LeRoy lead at 7-6 at intermission. The momentum was swinging mightily in favor of the Raiders. LeRoy played solid ball in the third quarter as their ball control offense was working well to keep the Cal-Mum offense off the field with the hard running of Whiting, Fox, and Slade Fitch. The Knights were definitely feeling the effects of having star FB Steve Angora out of the game with a knee injury. The defense came up with stellar run stuffing and interceptions by Fox and Tim Judge. Starting QB Judge was hurt returning his pickoff and was replaced by Brandon Klinkbeil who handled his new role with poise. Whiting smashed over the goal line on a fourth down and goal from the one yard line to give the Knights some breathing room at 13-6 early in the fourth quarter. Cal-Mum's Kyle Mynter came up big on the PAT run attempt, stuffing the LeRoy run and giving the Raiders a chance to win it. The Raiders got the ball with just under six minutes to play at midfield and drove well through the LeRoy defense with Mynter again the star. The Raiders punched a TD over to cut it to 13-12 with the 2 pt. conversion to decide it all. The Raiders rolled right on the play and went to the air when the running lanes closed off. The ball was batted away in traffic. The Knights recovered the ensuing onside kick and ran out the clock for the win. This early season contest was indeed a grand one between two stellar programs. The varsity game is sure to please as well. Good luck to both schools. |

Knights roll over Perry 44-18 in scrimmage
Perry - Rest assured that the future of LeRoy football is solid. The 2001 Jr. Varsity squad is a strong contingent, complete with size, speed, and toughness. Coaches Farnholz, King, Rogers, and Loftus have done a great job getting the squad geared up for a big year on the gridiron. The test for this squad comes early as the rival Cal-Mum Raiders are the 2nd game of the season. On Thursday, Sept. 13th @ 5:30 PM, the team will know just where they stand in this early part of the season. Be sure to stop on out to Hartwood Park in LeRoy for this always great game between two exceptional football programs. The Jr.
Knights controlled the tempo of the scrimmage/game with the Jr. Yellowjackets.
The bruising backfield of Whiting, Fox, and Angora ran tough behind
the big offensive line. QB Tim Judge displayed how his incredible work
ethic has paid off as he guided the team flawlessly. |
